Project Cars is designed to be setup with your steering wheel base at 900 Degrees Of Rotation (DOR), and adjust your steering rack ratio in car setups.
You can work out what steering ratio you want by doing the following:-
Take your car out to the track with default steering rack ratio
Turn on you HUD
Turn your wheel to one side while watching the steering HUD, top middle, looks like this IIIIIII^IIIIIII
When the centre mark ^ has got to the end, measure your wheel DOR (eg 270 degrees)
Double this number (eg 270 x 2 = 540 DOR). This is your default wheel DOR for full steering lock of the car you are driving.
Go back to car setup
Divide DOR by steering ratio (eg 540 / 13.9 = 38.8)
Divide DOR required by this number to give you steering rack ratio (eg 360 / 38.8 = 9.3). This is the ratio you enter into your car setup for the DOR you require for full steering lock.
Note - pCars has a bug not making the steering ratio save in session. Only way to save it is set the ratio you want. Hit save for the setup. Leave the track you are at and go back to Race Central. Go back in to the session and ratio will be setup for you. Because of this bug, it is best to set your DOR before entering a multiplayer session.
Most race cars are setup so full steering lock is achieved with no more than 360 DOR to prevent arm cross over.
I'll start off a database here for 270 and 360 DOR. If you are looking for something different, more or less rotation, you can take the DOR and ratio here and rework to your preferred ratio.
I'll add to the list as I work through the cars. If you have need of something I haven't got to yet, use the above method to work it out, or send me a request and I'll work it out for you.
Cars with ratios in brackets are the ratio required, ratio you can attain is the one listed. The BMW M1 Procar can only achieve minimum 360 DOR as steering ratios don't go lower to allow less than this.
